Metinvest to Invest $8 Billion at Mariupol-Based Steel Works Feb. 8, 2012 - Metinvest has announced plans to invest on average $1 billion every year through 2020 in development of its Azovstal and Iliych iron and Steel Works. The investments will help the company expand annual steel output by 35% at the two facilities.

Vale Employees Return to Sudbury Mines Feb. 8, 2012 - Vale announced that employees have begun returning to the company’s five Sudbury area mines following a temporary suspension of operations to focus on safety. Operations were temporarily suspended after an employee was fatally injured on January 29.

NLMK USA Sets New Records in Production and Quality Feb. 7, 2012 - NLMK’s plant at NLMK Indiana has ended 2011 setting 10 new production records, including the production of a new annual tonnage record for the meltshop of 672,756 cast tons with an average tap-to-tap time of 71.31 minutes. Capacities were running at over 90%.

Siemens Updates LD Converter at AHMSA's Monclova Works Feb. 3, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies received an order from Altos Hornos de Mexico, S.A.B. de C.V. (AHMSA) to modernize the LD converter in the Monclova steelworks in the Mexican state of Coahuila. The contract is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2013.
