Steel Producers / AK Steel AK Steel Marks 15th Anniversary of Listing on NYSE

AK Steel celebrated its fifteenth anniversary of trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) this week by ringing the NYSE's opening bell, signifying the start of the trading day.  
 
AK Steel Chairman, President and CEO James L. Wainscott, accompanied by a number of other AK Steel executives, rang the bell as part f a ceremony honoring the occasion. According to the NYSE, the opening and closing bell-ringings are among the most widely-viewed daily news events in the world.
 
“We are honored that AK Steel was selected for the NYSE's opening bell ceremony,” said Wainscott. “This event represents another milestone for AK Steel, as we have grown into a globally-competitive steelmaker.”
 
AK Steel’s common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on April 5, 1995 under the symbol "AKS." Since then, AK Steel has grown to become a Fortune 500 company, recording about $8 billion in revenues in 2008. The company has also been selected as a member of the S&P 500.
 
In recent years, AK Steel has consistently led its industry in safety, quality and productivity and has achieved a number of record company performances in key financial, production and other measures.  
 
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steels, primarily for automotive, appliance, construction and electrical power generation and distribution markets. The company employs about 6200 men and women in Middletown, Mansfield, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio; Butler, Pa.; Ashland, Ky.; Rockport, Ind.; and its corporate headquarters in West Chester, Ohio.
 
AK Tube LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of AK Steel, employs about 300 men and women in plants in Walbridge, Ohio, and Columbus, Ind.  AK Tube produces carbon and stainless electric resistance welded (ERW) tubular steel products for truck, automotive and other markets.
