Steel Producers / Allegheny Technologies ATI Announces President for ATI Metalworking; New Surcharge for Grain Oriented Steels

Allegheny Technologies Inc. recently named Robert S. Wetherbee as Business Unit President of ATI Metalworking Products, effective June 14, 2010.

 

ATI recently announced the addition of a $469 per ton ($23.45/cwt) surcharge for grain oriented steels.
 
The new surcharge takes effect with shipments beginning August 1, 2010, and is subject to monthly adjustment.

Wetherbee joins ATI following a 29-year career with Alcoa, Inc. He served most recently Vice President, Market Strategy, with responsibility for growth strategies for business units in the global aerospace, oil and gas, and transportation industries.
 
In his new position, Wetherbee reports to David M. Hogan, who remains Group President of ATI’s Engineered Products segment. The segment comprises ATI Metalworking Products, ATI Portland Forge, ATI Casting Service, and ATI Rome Metals business units.
 
Headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., ATI Metalworking Products produces the ATI Stellram and ATI Firth Sterling brands of cutting tools, abrasives, high-speed threading products, as well as tungsten powders, tungsten carbide products, and tungsten heavy alloys. ATI Metalworking Products serves the oil and gas, aerospace and defense, electrical energy, medical, and automotive markets.
 
Allegheny Technologies is one of the largest and most diversified specialty metals producers in the world with approximately 8600 full-time employees world-wide and revenues of $3.1 billion during 2009. ATI’s products include titanium and titanium alloys, nickel-based alloys and superalloys, grain-oriented electrical steel, stainless and specialty steels, zirconium, hafnium, and niobium, tungsten materials, and forgings and castings.
