Jiangyin Xing Cheng Starts up High-Capacity Danieli SBQ Mill
Dec. 1, 2006
Dec. 2006 — Jiangyin Xing Cheng Special Steel Co. Ltd., P.R. China, recently started the hot-run stage of its new 500,000 tonne/year SBQ mill.
The 130-tonne/hour No. 1 SBQ mill is designed for low temperature rolling of 15- to 60-mm diameter quality round bars for automotive and mechanical construction purposes. The mill comprises 18 SHS housingless stands with on-line water cooling boxes for LTR rolling, plus a five-pass Kocks/Danieli RSB Reducing and Sizing Block. The mill also includes state-of-the-art finishing services with on-line heat treatment facilities.
The new mill is being installed as part of a wider expansion program that includes a second 800,000 tonne/year mill for larger-size SBQ products. Startup of the second mill, which will be installed immediately adjacent to the first one, is scheduled for spring 2007. Together, the two high-capacity SBQ mills make up one of the largest projects for special steel long products in China.
Both projects—construction and installation of No. 1 SBQ mill as well as the larger No. 2 SBQ mill—have been executed by Danieli Metallurgical Equipment (Beijing) Co. Ltd. (DME), the new company established in China last year and located in the Beijing BDA area.
Jiangyin Xing Cheng is China's leading producer of bearing steels.
