Process / Long Products Rolling Core Furnace Systems Installs Heat Treating Line for Timken

Feb. 17, 2009
Core Furnace Systems recently completed the successful start-up of a complete harden, quench and temper heat treat line in Timken’s new thermal treating facility. The new facility is located at Timken’s steel plant in Canton, Ohio.

The new CORE heat treat furnaces, which will help Timken expand its heat treat capacity, feature a “roller-barrel” design, energy efficient combustion systems, and advanced process control technology. Timken will use the furnaces to provide hardening and tempering applications for the heat treatment of steel bars and tube.

CORE’s project scope also included induction preheating, ring quench, and a custom-designed material handling system to seamlessly move the product through the heat treat process.

CORE is a leader in the North American market for the design and supply of reheat, heat treating, specialty and carbon processing furnaces as well as meltshop equipment, technical services and automation systems.

Tenova designs and supplies advanced technologies, products and services for the metal and mining industries. Tenova operates close to its customers through a network of 30 companies based in 5 different continents.
