JSW Steel Launches JSW TMT Plus in Jaipur
Apr. 27, 2010 JSW Steel recently launched JSW TMT Plus in Jaipur to become one of the first Indian primary steel producers to use the Morgan Enhanced Temperature Controlled System to produce TMT (thermo-mechanically treated) bars. JSW Steel uses the process in the Morgan Mills to ensure ductility much better than Fe 500D.
The company says its equipment and process ensures controlled sulfur and phosphorous content of 0.005-0.035% each and extreme low tramp elements. With Morgan Technology, JSW Steel can access product innovations, process refinements, and technical support for new product applications.
JSW TMT Plus bars are said to be seismic-resistant with a combination of high-strength (YS min. ~540 MPa), durability (min. 18% elongation), and UTS/YS ratio of 1.15 min. The bars, which are also fatigue-resistant, perform very well in cyclic loading situations, according to JSW Steel.
“JSW Steel has been issued the Primary Producer Certification from the JPC,” said M. Subramanium, Vice President – Sales (Long Products), JSW Steel, at the JSW TMT Plus launch. “We manufacturers along with the structural engineers and builder community should always opt for quality steel products that come only from primary producers, and bear safety of consumers in mind before designing or constructing any building.”
JSW Steel has the largest integrated steel capacity (7.8 million tonnes per annum) in the private sector in India, according to Subramanium.
