Evraz Launches Rail Mill Reconstruction at NTMK
Jun. 18, 2010 Evraz Group S.A. has launched reconstruction of the rail mill at NTMK, its Russian steel plant in Nizhny Tagil, Urals.
The reconstruction project will increase the rail mill’s annual capacity from 400,000 to 550,000 tonnes. Following the project’s completion, the rail mill will produce 25-meter heat-treated rails with superior surface characteristics. The main customers of NTMK’s rails include Russian Railways, the CIS and Baltic countries, as well as Turkey and Iraq.
The reconstruction represents a total investment of 2 billion roubles (approximately US$70 million). It is scheduled to be completed in November 2011.
