Morgan Construction Co. recently received a contract from Belgo Mineira to design and install a new C-Hook system at Belgo’s TL 01 mill in Monlevade, Brazil.

The order follows an earlier upgrade of the coil handling equipment that was installed and commissioned by Morgan last year.

Belgo will utilize the C-Hooks to eliminate the forklift that has been feeding the two new compactors. This final part of the upgrade will comprise installation of a hook system that will carry the rod from the existing two-strand outlet to the compactors. As part of the upgrade, the contract also includes the addition of three side-shift cars, along with trimming, reloading, weighing, and unloading stations.

Originally built in the early 1960s, the Belgo TL 01 mill has since undergone several modifications. Currently producing carbon steel rod ranging in diameter from 5.5 to 16 mm, the upgraded mill will operate at 90 meters per second.
