Steel Producers / Nucor Steel Nucor Announces Cash Dividend Increase

Feb. 23, 2006

Feb. 23, 2006 — Nucor Corp.’s Board of Directors has increased the regular quarterly cash dividend on Nucor's common stock to twenty cents ($0.20) per share, from fifteen cents ($0.15) per share.

Nucor’s increased cash dividend is the company's one-hundred thirty-second consecutive quarterly cash dividend.

Nucor has increased its cash dividend every year since it began paying dividends in 1973.

Nucor's Board of Directors stated that it intends to increase the base cash dividend amount in the future as financial conditions and earnings permit.

Nucor's Board also approved the payment of a supplemental dividend of fifty cents ($0.50) per share, for a total dividend of seventy cents ($0.70) per share.

The supplemental dividend of fifty cents ($0.50) per share represents a portion of a total supplemental dividend estimated to be two dollars ($2.00) per share that Nucor's Board expects to declare and pay over this and the next three quarterly dividend payments. This supplemental dividend amount is based primarily on Nucor's results for the year ended December 31, 2005.

Payment of supplemental dividends in any future period will depend upon many factors, including Nucor's earnings, cash flows and financial position.

Nucor's increased cash dividend is payable on May 11, 2006 to stockholders of record on March 31, 2006.

Nucor and affiliates manufacture steel products, with operating facilities in sixteen states. Products include carbon and alloy steel bars, beams, sheet and plate; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; and light gauge steel framing. Nucor is the nation's largest recycler.
