PARSYTEC HEADLINES

Industry Suppliers / Parsytec Parsytec to Supply Surface Inspection for USS Kosice Hot Dip Galvanizing Line

May 18, 2007
Parsytec AG has received an order from the Slovakian steelmaker USS Košice to equip their brand-new hot dip galvanizing line (HDG Line No. 3) with Dual SensorTM technology.

With its new high-performance hot dip galvanizing line, USS Košice, a subsidiary of United States Steel Corp., targets quality-oriented customers including the rapidly expanding Eastern European automotive industry. Parsytec says the new technology will provide superior inspection results for the broad spectrum of steel grades USSK produces, including automotive exposed steel. To ensure the highest possible surface quality for every grade, Parsytec will install the unique Dual Sensor for inspection of top and bottom surfaces with matrix and line-scan cameras.

The system will incorporate Parsytec’s latest digital cameras, which deliver unprecedented high-quality images. Defects will be classified based on Parsytec’s extensive pre-classification database and the new HTS 5.1 software tools. Results will include a high degree of recognition and a beneficial total cost of ownership (TCO). Data gained from the inspection systems can be used for benchmarking, best-practice exchange among the individual lines, and documentation for a corporate-wide quality data infrastructure.

This project follows successful Parsytec installations at a number of other USS subsidiaries.

Parsytec AG is a leading international vendor of surface inspection systems. Ten of the Top 10 steel producers and 15 of the Top 20 paper producers currently apply Parsytec products. Parsytec is headquartered in Aachen, Germany, and maintains subsidiaries in North America, Korea, and China.
