Ford Specialists Inspect Production at MMK
Oct. 13, 2011 - A team from the Ford Motor Co. conducted an independent audit at Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works to evaluate the process of rolled products manufacturing. The audit involved almost every division of the plant, including the oxygen converter, the color-coating line, as well as mills No. 5, 10, and 11.

NLMK to Increase Cold-Rolled Steel Production
Aug. 9, 2011 - NLMK has signed a contract with LOI Thermprocess GmbH for 23 bell-type annealing furnaces with an aggregate capacity of 480,000 tonnes per year to anneal low-carbon coils at the Group’s main site in Lipetsk. The new furnaces will replace 30 obsolete ones.

Guangzhou JFE Steel Sheet Begins Operating Cold Rolling Mill
May 31, 2011 - Guangzhou JFE Steel Sheet has begun operating a new cold rolling mill with an annual output of 1.8 million tonnes as part of an integrated production system encompassing cold rolling to hot-dip galvanizing. The mill is expected to enter commercial production in July after test operation.

Baosteel Achieves Records on new Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Production Line
Jan. 10, 2011 - Baosteel’s Stainless Steel Business Unit recently achieved full capacity on its new cold rolled stainless steel production line, successfully exceeding the line’s design capacity. The company said the line had also achieved records on a number of key technical and economic indicators, including the unit's effective operation rate, the first-class product rate, and process costs.

Posco to Establish Cold-Rolled Stainless Steel Plant in Vietnam
Dec. 21, 2010 - Posco recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for a cold-rolled stainless steel plant in Vietnam’s Nhon Trach Industrial Complex. Posco VST expects to install a 100,000-tonne scale rolling mill and 200,000-tonne scale annealing equipment in the first phase by February 2012.

Siemens to Modernize Aluminum Cold Rolling Mill in Bahrain
Nov. 30, 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill Co. B.S.C. in Manama, Bahrain, to equip its aluminum cold rolling mill no. 2 with new automation and drive systems. The mill will be upgraded during a scheduled plant shutdown at the end of February 2011.

MMK, Atakas Commission Cold-Rolling Facility
Oct. 21, 2010 - MMK and Atakas Group have commissioned a cold-rolling facility as part of the MMK-Atakas steel project being developed near Iskenderun. By the end of 2011, the commissioned cold-rolling shop is scheduled to reach its planned capacity of 750,000 tonnes-per-year of ready-made metal products.

Outokumpu Aims to Save Energy at Tornio Site
Sep. 29, 2010 - Outokumpu has implemented an energy saving project at the Tornio Works production site in Finland that involves replacing 50 separate refrigeration compressors in the cold rolling plant with a new centralized district cooling system, expected to be in use by the end of 2011.

Posco’s Vietnamese Cold Rolling Mill in Full Operation
Apr. 19, 2010 - Posco-Vietnam’s cold-rolling mill produced 80,000 tonnes of cold-rolled steel products in March, with an operation rate of 80%—20% higher than projected. Since the beginning of April, the plant has been in full operation, producing 100,000 tonnes of steel.
