Jan. 11, 2012 - NLMK has successfully cast the first slabs on its newly revamped one million tonne/year vertical continuous casting machine (CCM-3) at Novolipetsk, the company’s main production site in Lipetsk.

Dec. 19, 2011 - ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG has placed an order with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to upgrade the casting-rolling mill at the Duisburg-Bruckhausen location with new basic automation and technology packages.

SMS Siemag Starts up X-Melt Steelworks, X-Cast Caster for Maghreb Steel
Dec. 16, 2011 - SMS Siemag successfully put into operation an X-Melt® electric steelmaking plant and an X-Cast® slab caster at Maghreb Steel in Morocco. The facilities are designed for an annual production of 1 million tonnes of steel and will supply the Steckel rolling mill and the heavy-plate mill with input stock.

Siemens to Supply Secondary Refining, Casting Plant to BMZ
Dec. 13, 2011 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Byelorussian Steelworks (BMZ) to equip the factory in Zhlobin with secondary metallurgical plants and a new six-strand continuous billet casting plant. The project is to be completed in early 2013.

JSW Steel Orders another Continuous Slab Caster from Siemens VAI
Dec. 7, 2011 - JSW Steel has ordered another new continuous slab caster from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies for its steelworks in Toranagallu, Karnataka State, India. The new caster will have an annual production capacity of 1.4 million tonnes and is expected to be commissioned in mid-2013.

Severstal Columbus Unveils $550 Million Phase II Facility Expansion
Nov. 18, 2011 - everstal North America celebrated the Grand Opening of its $550-million Phase II expansion in Columbus, Miss. The expansion included installation of a second EAF, caster, tunnel furnace, hot-dip galvanizing line, and push-pull pickle line.

Xingtai Steel Grants Acceptance Certificate for Hebei Province Steelworks
Nov. 17, 2011 - Xingtai Iron & Steel recently awarded Siemens VAI Metals Technologies the final acceptance certificate for secondary steelmaking facilities and a four-strand continuous billet caster, part of a new specialty and stainless steelworks in the Hebei Province.

voestalpine Stahl Starts Up Automated Thick Slab Caster from Siemens VAI
Nov. 10, 2011 - voestalpine Stahl GmbH successfully cast the first two ladle heats on September 20 in the new CC7 continuous casting line delivered by Siemens VAI. The casting line is designed to produce slabs with thicknesses up to 355 mm at widths of up to 2200 mm.

PT. Gunung Orders Slab Caster from SMS Siemag
Oct. 28, 2011 - SMS Siemag has been contracted to supply a single-strand slab caster to PT. Gunung for operation at its Bekasi works in the Indonesian province of West Java.
