Oct. 7, 2010 - Kroman Çelik Sanayii A.Ş successfully commissioned in July 2010 the Module Technology fix injection system supplied by More srl in a new 150-tonne electric arc furnace. Twenty-eight heats per day were reached two weeks from the start-up of the equipment.

Fuxin Special Steel Orders Stainless Steel Plant from SMS Siemag
Sep. 22, 2010 - Fuxin Special Steel Co. Ltd. has placed an order with SMS Siemag for the planning and supply of a steelworks for the production of stainless steel slabs. It will reportedly be the first stainless steel plant in the world to utilize the waste heat from the AOD converter and the electric arc furnace.

Siemens Modernizes EAFs in Finland, Saudi Arabia
Jul. 22, 2010 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies received orders to modernize electric arc furnaces for both the Saudi Iron and Steel Co. (Hadeed) and Outokumpu Oy. Both plants will be equipped with a new hydraulic system to improve the efficiency, availability, and productivity of the furnaces.

Jul. 1, 2010 - ArcelorMittal Contrecour Ouest has achieved EAF operating savings of over US$2.00 per ton liquid steel using the EFSOP® system installed by Tenova Goodfellow at its plant near Montreal. Tenova Goodfellow has also completed the installation of its EFSOP Water Detection System, which detects and alerts operators in real time of abnormal water events in the furnace.

Jun. 22, 2010 - Siemens has received an order from PT Krakatau Steel of Cilegon, Indonesia, to completely modernize its slab steel works no. 1. The modernized works is scheduled to come into production in the summer of 2012.

Jun. 10, 2010 - Tenova Core has been contracted to revamp the 75-ton electric arc furnace at Ivaco’s steelmaking facility in L’Orignal, Ont. The project features a new upper shell and new lower shell designed to fit the existing EAF tilt platform.
First Installation of Siemens LiquiRob at Riva Group EAF
May 13, 2010 - The Riva Group has become the first steel producer to use the Siemens LiquiRob robot system at an electric arc furnace. The technology has been installed in its French plant in Neuves-Maisons where it handles sampling and temperature and Celox measurements.

May 6, 2010 - United Steel Co. placed an order with SMS Meer and SMS Concast for the design and supply of a turnkey minimill plant for beams and sections in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The project, to be carried out with Samsung Engineering, is scheduled for completion by 2012.

Modernization Programs to Resume at Severstal Dearborn, Columbus

Tenova Starts Up Two Consteel Plants in South Korea
