Siemens to Expand Bhushan Steel Hot Strip Mill
Jan. 18, 2012 - Bhushan Steel Ltd. has contracted Siemens to supply the electrical and automation equipment for the expansion of its existing hot-strip mill in Meramandali, in the Indian Federal State of Orissa. The equipment is scheduled to be supplied in 2012.
Siemens to Upgrade Automation, Controls for TKS Casting-Rolling Mill
Dec. 19, 2011 - ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG has placed an order with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to upgrade the casting-rolling mill at the Duisburg-Bruckhausen location with new basic automation and technology packages.
USITC Makes Decision on Cut-to-Length Carbon Steel Plate
Dec. 6, 2011 - The U.S. International Trade Commission determined that revoking the existing antidumping and countervailing duty orders on cut-to-length carbon-quality steel plate from India, Indonesia, and Korea would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time. The existing orders on imports of these products from Italy and Japan will be revoked as a result of the Commission's negative determinations.
Tata Steel to Mothball Llanwern Hot Strip Mill
Dec. 5, 2011 - Tata Steel has temporarily mothballed the hot strip mill at its Llanwern site in Newport, South Wales, effective immediately. The company expects the facility to remain mothballed until the UK economy and steel demand justify a restart.
SMS Siemag to Supply Heavy-plate Mill for Nanjing Iron & Steel
Nov. 25, 2011 - Nanjing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., China, has awarded a contract to SMS Siemag, Germany, to build a new 4.7-meter heavy-plate mill.
Siemens to Extend Novelis Rolling Mill in Ulsan
Nov. 21, 2011 - Novelis Korea Ltd. has placed an order with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to extend its aluminum rolling mill in Ulsan with the addition of a three-stand finishing line.
NLMK Revamps Hot Rolling Facilities at Lipetsk
Nov. 15, 2011 - NLMK has started hot testing and produced the first slab at its reconstructed Reheating Furnace No. 3 in Lipetsk.
