Jul. 29, 2011 - Nippon Steel Corp., together with joint capital subscribers, has decided to increase production capacity and expand the local fabrication setup at Nippon Steel Bar & CH Wire (China) Co., Ltd. (NBC China). Construction of a new integrated plant will increase capacity from 7000 to 42,000 tonnes/year.
SMS Siemag to Supply Pickling Line/Tandem Cold Mill to JSW Steel
Jul. 27, 2011 - JSW Steel Ltd. has placed an order with SMS Siemag for the supply of a pickling line/tandem cold mill at its location in Toranagallu Vidyanagar (Bellary), India. The mill will have an annual capacity of 2.3 million tonnes of cold strip in widths up to 1890 mm.
MMK Completes Construction of MMK-Atakas Metalworks
Jul. 19, 2011 - Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works has launched the MMK-Atakas continuous hot-dip galvanizing unit in Istanbul, marking the completion of construction of the MMK-Atakas metallurgy complex. The plant’s capacity is 450,000 tonnes per annum of galvanized steel.

MMK-Atakas Produces First 3000 Tonnes of Hot-Rolled Plate
May 23, 2011 - Iskenderun-based MMK-Atakas hot-rolling unit (compact strip mill linked to the electric arc furnace facility) has produced its first 3000 tonnes of hot-rolled plate. MMK also announced that the color coating line was put into operation at MMK-Atakas’ production site in Istanbul.

Nippon Steel, Ternium to Establish HDG Joint Venture in Mexico
Oct. 6, 2010 - Nippon Steel and Ternium sign a definitive agreement to form a joint venture in Mexico for the manufacture and sale of hot-dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets to serve the Mexican automobile market. Ternium will hold a 51% interest in the new venture, with Nippon Steel holding the remaining 49%.

Apr. 28, 2010 - voestalpine Stahl GmbH continued its EUR 700 million investment program “L6” in the 2009/10 business year, despite the poor economic climate.
