Tube City IMS Corp. announced that several of the company's IMS Division sites received a total of 24 safety awards from the National Slag Association (NSA) for 2006.
The company's Mingo Junction, Ohio, operation received the following three NSA awards:
- "Most Improved Job Sites for Safety."
- "Job Sites with at Least 200,000 Hours Since the Last Recordable Accident."
- "Lowest Incident Rate, 76+ Employees."
Operations in Beaumont, Texas, and Monessen, Pa., each received the following two safety awards:
- "Job Sites with at Least 200,000 Hours since the Last Recordable Accident."
- "Lowest Incident Rate, 11-50 Employees."
An award for "Lowest Incident Rate, 1-10 Employees" was granted to IMS Division sites in Bridgeville, Johnstown, and Parkersburg, Pa., Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio, Jackson, Mich., Longview, Texas, and Selkirk, Man., Canada. An award for "Lowest Incident Rate, 11-50 Employees" was awarded to the company's operations in Auburn, N.Y., Cartersville, Ga., Kankakee, Ill., McMinnville, Ore., Midland, Pa., Monroe, Mich.; Sand Springs, Okla., and Saukville, Wis., while the company’s Cayce, S.C., operation received an award for "Lowest Incident Rate, 51-75 Employees."
In addition, David Moore, Shift Foreman at the company's Braddock, Pa., operation received an award for his safety slogan, "The Safe Way or No Way." The NSA selected Mr. Moore's slogan from 176 entries to be its 2007 safety slogan.
