Severstal Confirms Fatality at Sparrows Point
Sep. 4, 2008 Severstal has confirmed that an industrial incident occurred on Wednesday at its Sparrows Point facility in Baltimore, Md., had resulted in one fatality.
The company said the incident is currently being investigated jointly by Severstal and the USW, and also by the appropriate local authorities.
“We send our condolences to the family,” said Gregory Mason, CEO of Severstal International. “Our thoughts and prayers remain with them during this difficult time.”
Severstal International is an operating division of OAO Severstal comprising the North American segment that includes Sparrows Point.
