June 16, 2006 — Techint Goodfellow Technologies Inc. has received a purchase order from CMC Steel South Carolina (formerly known as SMI SC) to install a Goodfellow EFSOP^™ system in its meltshop.

The EFSOP system will incorporate continuous off-gas based closed-loop process control, allowing CMC to measure and analyze EAF off-gases (CO, CO2, H2, O2) continuously at the fourth hole for real-time closed-loop process control of EAF steelmaking.

Techint Goodfellow says the new system will result in improved operations, energy savings, lower conversion costs and safety benefits.

CMC Steel South Carolina is a member of the CMC Steel Group, a family of vertically integrated companies involved in the entire steel production process. It is one of four minimills providing rebar, rounds, flats, angles, squares, channels and billets to customers throughout the Eastern U.S. CMC Steel South Carolina is registered to ISO 9001:2000 and ABS Approved for grade A hull structural steel flat bars and shapes.
