Nov. 2006 — CAF Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles, Besain, Spain, has ordered a new rotary table furnace from LOI Thermprocess GmbH, Germany.

CAF produces grade R6-R10 wheels for railway rolling stock. The new plant will replace an old furnace and will represent a significant improvement in capacity and economics.

CAF will use its new LOI furnace, which is heated by low-NOx burners, to reheat the wheels. CAF selected the rotary table furnace because it will provide fuel savings and more economical production.

The furnace will have an average diameter of 9 meters and a capacity of 20 tonne/hour. LOI’s scope of supply includes a complete control system for fully automated operation and batch tracking as well as the charging and discharging machine.

The new furnace is scheduled to be commissioned in June 2007.
