QY Group-China Opens Mechanical Tubing Mill in Baytown, Texas
Mar. 9, 2009 QY Group–China recently celebrated the grand opening of LQY Welded Tube, Inc., a new cold-formed welded carbon steel mechanical tubing mill facility. Located in Baytown, Texas, the new facility is doing business as Tritube USA.
The new facility — QY Group–China’s first manufacturing venture in the U.S. — has four forming/welding lines that produce ASTM A500 / A513 cold-formed welded carbon steel mechanical tubing and ASTM A135 / A795 fire protection sprinkler pipe. Mechanical Tubing is available in sizes ½ through 3 inches with wall thicknesses of as much as 0.120-inch. Fire Protection Sprinkler pipe is available in sizes up to 3 inches in various wall thicknesses.
Qi Yuan Lu, the owner of the QY Group of Zhangjiagang, China, said the company is expecting to employ over 30 people at its new Baytown facility.
The company has signed a marketing agreement with Merfish Pipe & Supply, Houston, Texas, naming Merfish as the exclusive sales agent for much of the Midwest, South and Southeast U.S.
QY Group of Zhangjiagang, China, is an integrated manufacturer of similar high quality products. The QY Group of China has the capacity to manufacture over 300,000 tonnes of tubular goods per year and also manufactures the tube making equipment installed in the new Baytown, Texas plant.
Merfish, founded in 1920, is a family owned business specializing in the distribution of prime quality carbon steel pipe and tubing.
