Severstal's Cherepovets Mill Increased Strip Deliveries to Russian Pipe Makers in 2011
Feb. 3, 2012 - OAO Severstal announces that its Cherepovets Steel Mill increased deliveries to Russian pipe-making companies in 2011 by 5%. A total of more than 700,000 tonnes of plate was produced on the wide-strip Rolling Mill 5000 at Severstal’s No.3 Sheet Rolling Shop, about 70% of which was sent to the Izhora Pipe Mill.
Saarstahl Announces Personnel Changes
Feb. 2, 2012 - Dr. Klaus Harste has asked the Supervisory Board to release him from his duties as Chairman of the Management Board of Saarstahl AG with responsibility for Engineering and Technology. Dr. Karlheinz Blessing will be recommended to the Supervisory Board to assume the office of successor to the Chairman of the Board.

Feb. 1, 2012 - ThyssenKrupp and Outokumpu announced the combination of Outokumpu with Inoxum, the stainless steel unit of ThyssenKrupp, to create a new global leader in stainless steel. Agreements have been approved by the Supervisory Board of ThyssenKrupp AG and the Outokumpu Board of Directors.

Jan. 30, 2012 - The Automotive Division of the voestalpine Group will supply a leading European car manufacturer with key components involving its patented “phs-ultraform,” a hot-dip galvanized auto body steel developed by voestalpine and formed during a new “indirect press-hardening” process.

Jan. 27, 2012 - Kobe Steel, Ltd. has established a company in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China to make steel wire for use in high-quality springs. The new company, Kobelco Spring Wire (Foshan) Co., Ltd., will begin operations in the first half of 2013.
SMS Meer to Expand Bar Mill for Deutsche Edelstahlwerke
Jan. 27, 2012 - Deutsche Edelstahlwerke has contracted SMS Meer for the expansion of the 3-roll Precision Sizing Mill at its Siegen-Geisweid, Germany, plant to include an automatic size control system with cross-section measuring module. The project is scheduled to be implemented in spring 2012.

Siemens to Supply Bar Mill for ASCE Group OJSC, Armenia
Jan. 25, 2012 - Siemens VAI Metals Technologies has received an order from Armenian steelmaker ASCE Group OJSC to supply a new bar mill for its production location in Charentsavan. The scope of the project includes the mechanical equipment, electric and automation, the water treatment plant, and auxiliaries.
Izhora Pipe Mill Produces Record 500,000 Tonnes of LD Pipes
Jan. 25, 2012 - OAO Severstal announced that its pipe production unit, the Izhora Pipe Mill, produced more than 500,000 tonnes of large-diameter (LD) pipes in 2011, representing a 10% increase on 2010 production levels, primarily for use in major oil and gas projects in Russia.

Siemens to Supply Baku Steel with EAF, Waste Gas Cleaning Plant
Jan. 24, 2012 - Azerbaijani steel producer Baku Steel has ordered a new electric arc furnace from Siemens VAI Metals Technologies as part of an expansion project to raise its production capacity to around 1.1 million tonnes of steel per annum. The project also includes the supply of mechanical equipment for a ladle furnace and a waste gas cleaning system.

JSW Steel Reports Highest-Ever Production Volume for Q3 FY 2011-12
Jan. 23, 2012 - JSW Steel Limited reported the production of 1.939 million tons of crude steel, the company’s highest-ever quarterly volume of production, as well as highest-ever quarterly sales volume of 1.908 million tonnes of steel in the third quarter of FY 2011-12.
ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe Trains New Experts in Industrial Firefighting
Jan. 23, 2012 - Eighteen young firefighters recently completed an 18-month chief fire officer training course at ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe in Duisburg.
