Posco Confirms Executive Director Candidates
Feb. 19, 2010 Posco recently held a board meeting to confirm Posco ICT CEO Han-yong Park, Vice President Chang-gwan Oh (Marketing Director), and Jin-il Kim (Head Manager of Pohang Steelworks) as executive director candidates.
The candidates passed through qualification screening from a credentials committee under the board before the confirmation. They will take the post following approval at the shareholders meeting scheduled for February 26.
Park joined Posco in 1978 and became CEO after serving on the hot-rolled product exports team, the PR team, as hot-rolled products sales chief, the audit team, as HR team chief, and POSDATA CEO.
Oh joined the company in 1977 and is the current marketing director after serving in the positions of Gwangyang production control manager, PI chief, order processing department chief, and head manager of Pohang Steelworks.
Kim is currently the head manager of Pohang Steelworks after joining Posco in 1975 and serving in the positions of head of the Pohang continuous casting plant II and steelmaking chief, processing manager, PI chief, order processing team, and the Vietnam project operation promotion team.
At the board meeting, Posco decided to reduce the number of executive directors and outside directors by one person each to five and eight, respectively, and to adjust the number of registered directors to 13. The company will bring it to issue at the upcoming shareholders meeting.
At the meeting, current executive directors Posco E&C Chairman Seok-man Yoon and CEO Dong-hee Lee (Finance Investment Director), Vice President Nam-seok Heo (Production Technology Director), Vice President Gil-su Chung (Stainless Division Director), and Outside Director and Kim & Chang Lawyer Jeffery Johns are stepping down as they reach the end of their term.
