World Outotec Awarded Contracts for Karara Iron Ore Project

Aug. 10, 2010
Outotec has been awarded orders for Australia's Karara Iron Ore Project that include the design, supply, delivery, and installation of the complete flotation circuit along with all filtration technology.

The orders are worth more than EUR 28 million.

The Karara Iron Ore Project, located 300 km north of Perth in Western Australia, is a 50:50 joint venture between Gindalbie Metals Ltd. and Chinese steel producer AnSteel. It is part of the development of the magnetite deposit at Karara, which has the known potential for more than 30 million tonnes annual processing of magnetite over its estimated 30-year life.

The first phase of operation is scheduled for 2011.

"This project demonstrates the excellent fit of the Larox filtration technologies to Outotec's technology portfolio. Now we can offer larger solutions for our customers and use efficiently our global resources in sales, project delivery, and services," said Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen.

The orders are included in Outotec's 2010 second-quarter order intake and backlog.

Outotec is a leading global provider of process solutions, technologies, and services for the mining and metallurgical industries. The company provides plants, equipment, and services based mainly on proprietary technologies.
