Metal Shipments Show Double Digit Year-Over-Year Growth Jan. 19, 2012 - Service center shipments grew at slightly higher levels in December for both steel and aluminum in Canada, according to the latest Metals Activity Report from the Metals Service Center Institute. In the U.S., steel shipments grew at about half the rate as last month and aluminum-shipment growth remained about the same.

November World Crude Steel Production Slips from Previous Month Dec. 21, 2011 - World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 115.51 million tonnes for November 2011, 6.8% lower than the 123.98 million tonnes reported for the previous month (October 2011) and 1.1% higher in comparison with November 2010.

Steel inventory levels declined in the U.S. and Canada from last month.

World Crude Steel Production Rebounds Slightly in October Nov. 22, 2011 - World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association stood at an estimated 123.98 million tonnes for October 2011, 0.3% higher than the 123.57 million tonnes reported for the previous month (September 2011) and 6.2% higher in comparison with October 2010.
